Selling Patriotic & 4th of July Postcards on eBay

Happy 4th of July! With the holiday in mind we thought it would be a good time to share some patriotic and 4th of July themed postcards. Like most holiday cards, they typically sell around the year, but pick up in sales before the holiday arrives. Their limited seasonal availability in the years they were produced can help increase the value and collectability of some of these postcards. Since the early 1900's Americans from coast to coast mailed their patriotic greetings to their friends & family.

Many famous postcard illustrators joined in and created beautiful patriotic postcards, such as Ellen M. Clapsaddle, Frances Brundage and Raphael Tucks & Sons. Early examples of 4th of July postcards often include illustrations of the American Flag, firecrackers, eagles, "Lady Liberty" and "Uncle Sam" characters. Vibrant 4th of July postcards with bold colors like these are very desirable. This postcard sold on eBay in June of 2024 for $25.49. (We believe it could have sold for more).

This series of four postcards creates Uncle Sam's figure dressed in an Americana style suit. It sold on eBay for $105.05 in May of 2025.

This timeline of soldiers throughout the years is a Brundage postcard. It reads "One flag, one Land, one heart, one hand, One Nation, Evermore!" It sold on eBay auction for $19.48 in May of 2024.

Firecracker, and American flags are very desirable imagery for 4th of July postcards. This postcard of a policeman on the 4th sold on eBay for $42.46 in September 2023.

Ellen M. Clapsaddle has several iconic 4th of July postcards- this is one example. The aviation theme including the blimp carrying Uncle Sam makes this card very collectible. It sold on eBay for $54.80 in January of 2023.

This Raphael Tuck & Sons postcard depicts a Confederate soldier on horseback. It sold on eBay for $56.99 in June of 2024.
